RE: cycled is the ultimate treasure trove of the unusual, eclectic, interesting and bespoke.
Further to our feature last month on the inspirational Laundry List, we have had lots of rumblings wanting to know more about RE: so here is the lowdown.
I was lucky enough to have been introduced to RE: in its infancy and ever since have made an annual pilgrimage to Corbridge, a pretty market town in the heart of Northumberland, to enjoy its eclectic wares. In truth, nearly every talking point in my house comes from this incredible Aladdin’s cave. I feel quite envious of those who are yet to discover its charm.
Shopping has never been so much fun.
RE: sells recycled and restored and reclaimed items (hence the great name) and it is virtually impossible to pigeonhole the inspirational range of products available. The wonderful curiosities range from vintage textiles and Victorian cake stands to rusty garden signs, Nordic style pom poms and French toiletries. Want a kull and Crossbones bone China Dinner Service? RE: is your place. Want an enamel gardening mug or a ancient religious artefact for your house? RE:is the place. Want an antique school map or a reduced, recycled cardboard light (believe me: you do, you really do) then get shopping here.
The stock is sourced globally whilst much of the REgd products (exclusively designed and made for them) are manufactured in the UK. The 2nd hand items come from flea markets and antique fairs all over the country. What is wonderful is that EVERY single item reflects the personal tastes of it’s owners: Jenny Vaughan and Simon Young, two ex-fashion designers who have immense attention to detail and creativity.
Be Gone You High Street Clones
This stuff is totally different to the boring, generic ‘sameness’ of the high street. If you want to personalise your space with creative style then look no further. It’s wonderful, wacky and whimsical.
Go on – dare to be different.
