If you have been searching for luxury childrens wear with a vintage twist then you have reached your destination. The multi award winning label ilovegorgeous was established in 2006 by designers and lifelong friends Sophie Worthington and Lucy Enfield. Their original aim was to create beautiful clothes, accessories and every day staples for gorgeous girls age 0-15. In 2016 they rebranded to Wild & Gorgeous when they introduced their long awaited first boys wear range. Think vintage with a twist, fashion forward but not overtly trendy.
Having grown up in London, Sophie & Lucy were influenced by the street fashion of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. It seems fitting then that they draw a lot of inspiration from the flower power, punk and new romantic era and the vibrancy of colour from travels to India which is evident in their collections.
Wild & Gorgeous has two stores in the fashionable districts of Notting Hill and Primrose Hill and a presence in some of the world’s most exclusive boutiques and department stores including Selfridges, Harrods and Nordstrum.
IN THE KNOW
Impressively they have a celebrity fan base to die for including Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller and Claudia Schiffer. You might even remember in the summer of 2016 the Cameron children were photographed leaving Downing Street in co-ordinating ilovegorgeous dresses which consequently sold out overnight! And not to be outdone, in September 2016 Prince George was widely photographed on the Canadian Royal Tour wearing the Harry Jumper from the very first Wild & Gorgeous boys collection.
Wild & Gorgeous instinctively appeal to what children want to wear
Left To Right: Aqua Catherine Dress £65 & Poppy Round Bag £25
Cherry Tee £29 & Poppy Skirt £55
Aqua Sequin Jumper £59 & Cherrie R Us Dress £65
We were immediately drawn to the new cherry collection and obviously excited to see Wild & Gorgeous love cherries as much as we do! Sophie told us that the Cherry collection was inspired by their own memories of iconic 80’s brand Fiorucci. They chose the bold colours and kitsch detailing of Pop Art to ‘create a SS17 collection that was a bit playful, wearable and just a little bit cool’. The cherry range palette is yellow to announce summer while the aqua blue is a more subtle take on the theme. And just so your little boy doesn’t feel left out there are lovely aqua and yellow cotton shirts to match.
The Cherry Collection aside, the rest of the SS17 range leaves us wanting excuses to buy one of the willowy Garden Party dresses, the slightly urban mods & rockets range or vintage circus style. But who are we kidding, it’s not hard to find an excuse to buy understated quality childrens wear that wears well and last long enough to pass to the next generation.
We reckon you’ll love their SS17 video (below) as much as we did because you get to see the collection in motion. It certainly struck a cord with our children who played it on a loop for 24 hours!
